A couple from Norfolk turned detective to reunite a family from Yorkshire with their lost video camera and summer of happy memories.

When Lucy and Daniel Alexander found the camera they decided to do the right thing - but didn't realise quite what a task they'd taken on

It was one of the hottest days of the summer and Walberswick in Suffolk was filled with crab catchers and sun seekers. Lucy and Daniel Alexander from Wheatacre near Beccles were spending the day with three of their four children when one of them noticed a camcorder left behind on the grass.

That was when the detective work started. The Alexanders decided not to take the camera to the police but launch their own investigation instead. They took the camera home and watched hours of footage to collect clues about the owner.

The family in the footage had had a busy summer - the Olympic torch relay and the Games themselves, jubilee street party and plenty of school activity.

It was by tracing the school that Daniel and Lucy made a breakthrough in tracking down the owners Kirsty and Mark Covell.
