Norfolk Wildlife Trust have bought 143 acres of salt marsh and freshwater pools - the missing link in an 8km stretch of coastline nature reserve.
They secured it thanks to public donations and a £1.5 million grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund
"When this new piece of land, this missing piece of the jigsaw came up, I knew straight away that that is beyond what we're normally capable of doing. But I knew that our members would be very disappointed with me indeed if we didn't really try to secure it"
Norfolk wildlife Trust's 'Living Coast' scheme will include a new education centre and facilities for Cley's hundred thousand annual visitors.
The sale of Pope Marsh should go through by November and restoration work of this important habitat will begin soon after.
