Kempston lollipop lady in a serious condition in hospital after being knocked down by car

A lollipop lady from Bedfordshire is in a serious condition in hospital after she was knocked down by a car on Friday.

The 71-year-old was hit by a Volkswagen Golf on a pedestrian crossing outside Bedford Road Lower School in Kempston while she was working.

She was airlifted to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge where she is currently in a serious, but stable, condition.

The driver of the vehicle wasn't hurt.

“The area was very busy at the time of the collision and I would urge anyone who saw what happened to call police.”
