Mars will extend, refurbish and modernise its King's Lynn factory as part of a multi-million pound investment in the site.

The food manufacturer says the project is in the "early stages of planning" but construction will begin at the Hardwick Industrial Estate later this year.

It described the project as "extremely exciting".

The expansion plans were revealed by the Prime Minister as he headed to the United States.

As part of David Cameron's visit, UK and US companies are set to announce trade and investment deals worth more than £1.1 billion creating more than 1,700 new jobs.

Exports to the US were worth £80 billion to the UK in 2013.
