A man from Cambridgeshire who broke one of his partner's ribs and fractured her skull in a vicious assault has been jailed for six years.

Martin Bukovskis, 26, of Gladstone Street in Peterborough, attacked his victim after he had been drinking and smoking cannabis following a party at his home in late January.

During his trial the court heard how Bukovskis repeatedly punched his partner – who is in her 20s - and dragged her around "like she was a toy".

As well as her chest and head injuries she broke her wrist and suffered internal bleeding.

Bukovskis pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis and GBH.
