Plans for a new prison in Northamptonshire have been announced by the new Justice Secretary Liz Truss.
Wellingborough Prison closed in 2012 because it wasn't fit for purpose. In a speech today the MP for South West Norfolk said a modern Category C prison will be built on the existing site - which will have a larger capacity than before.
It's part of the Government's £1.3 billion building programme to replace the most dilapidated jails with up to date facilities.
Well the prison has always been a success in Wellingborough, people living in Millers Park were often connected with the prison. They were officers or related to prison officers.
