Natural England has published the first Essex-based proposals which will cover the 25-mile stretch of the England Coast Path.

Anyone wishing to comment has eight weeks to do so, then the Secretary of State will decide whether or not to approve the proposals.

When finished the England Coast Path will be a 2,700 mile long National Trail around the whole of the English coast.

"I would urge residents to engage with Natural England's proposals for the Essex stretches of the England Coast Path as they are consulted on over the coming months. The Maldon to Salcott section covers a beautiful, wild part of Essex coastline. It's important that residents get involved in the development of the England Coast Path at this early stage to ensure we can create a route that works for residents, businesses and visitors to the county."
