Coastal volunteers say the first dead minke whale calf was spotted on a mudbank in the River Ore near Felixstowe yesterday afternoon.

Another dead adult whale was seen in the water off Harwich and a third has washed up on the beach near Felixstowe Pier.

A very sad day for marine mammals. A young minke calf in the ore dead, then a larger one in the Harwich approaches.

Such amazing mammals.
