The Civil Aviation Authority has accused Stansted-based Ryanair of failing to respond to their request for a meeting to discuss how the airline is treating passengers affected by cancellations.

The CCA has told Ryanair that it must sort out compensation arrangements for customers by 5pm on Friday, or they could press ahead with legal action.

However, in a fresh statement released ahead of the deadline, a spokesperson for the CAA insisted their attempts to contact the airline have so far been ignored.

Much of the row revolves around the accusation that Ryanair have failed to inform passengers that they're entitled to be re-routed on rival airlines if their flight is cancelled.

Ryanair has now issued a response to the CAA's comments, saying:"We're preparing our response which they'll receive before 5pm."

The CAA want Ryanair to inform customers of their right to be re-routed by another carrier, as well as publicly stating that they will reimburse expenses for those affected by cancellations.
