An animal rescue centre in Northamptonshire is looking for more volunteers.

Animals in Need near Wellingborough is preparing for the annual influx of unwanted pets after Christmas.

"We haven't yet started getting the influx of animals after Christmas, but, that is going to come, we know it will, it does every year. People take on animals, they get pets for loved ones as presents and then it turns out they can't look after them, they didn't realise that they would need so much work, so, they end up bringing them here, which is absolutely fine, it's what we're here for - we wish it would stop, but, it's not going to and, all we can do, is pick up the pieces and help them."

"Some of the animals that, unfortunately come into us, are not in the best condition, they might have not come from the best start in life, so, they need a lot of work and it can be quite difficult to get them to regain trust. But, the best part is actually being able to go home at the end of the day, shattered, but, being able to know that we've found a perfect family for an animal to go home and start a new life."
