Don't call our sons "it" say mums on World Down Syndrome Day

The mothers of two three year old boys from Norfolk, who have Down's Syndrome, say they have been hurt by people calling them "it".

They are calling for better understanding and acceptance. The two mums have been talking to ITV News Anglia's Natalie Gray.

"Quite often the boys are stared at or you see people giving a little whisper.

"We just want people to accept them and the boys to experience the same opportunities that all children have.

"That little extra chromosome, shouldn't take anything away from them . It just adds that little bit of extra."

Norwich Castle will be lit up in blue and yellow from six o'clock tonight to mark World Down Syndrome Day.

The aim of this year's campaign is to celebrate the different ways people with DS bring to their local communities.
