Thousands of spectators lined the course of a car rally held in Essex this weekend.

The event was the first time a car rally had been held on closed public roads in England.

Organisers of the The Corbeau Seats Rally Tendring and Clacton say over 100 cars took part, 500 marshals volunteered and 6,000 people watched the event.

"This has been a brilliant day and to win the first closed road event in England was very special for us. "Let’s hope this is the start of a new era for rallying."
