Meet Up Mondays are spreading across Suffolk to help fight loneliness.

Around 20 venues have signed up to the scheme, offering free tea and toast and a chance for a chat.

Ann Osborn from the Rural Coffee Caravan, teamed up with Community Action Suffolk to launch the mornings after a pub came up with the idea in London.

“The hosts are so enthusiastic they’re loving it and a lot of people have said to me this is a bit weird, pubs giving stuff away but yeah it’s tea and coffee and a bit of toast and a biscuit. They’re completely up for it and thoroughly enjoy being able to help.”

“It filled a huge gap in my life and I’m really thrilled. Monday mornings are usually dull but not now.”

“People come in, there’s already some friendships forming which was part of the whole idea of the Meet Up Mondays so yes definitely working as planned.”

– Shaun Waters, Landlord, Norman Warrior Pub

The mornings are free with refreshments and the opportunity to make new friends.
