Fifty fire fighters were called to a large blaze in a retirement home in Huntingdon overnight.

The fire at Elm Tree Court in Cromwell Road broke out around 10.30pm on Friday 22 June.

Flames were seen coming from the roof and a section of the ring road had to be closed as crews tackled the fire.

Police helped to get residents out safely and no-one was hurt.

It's thought the fire started in an upper floor of the four-storey building and spread to the roof.

Fire crews said it was out by 2am - crews have returned to inspect the damage and investigate how it began.

The complex had 26 one and two bedroom flats for people over 60.
