Detectives in Ipswich are appealing for witnesses after a man was found unconscious a month ago on his driveway and later died in hospital

74-year old Clive Wyard was found outside his home in Valley Road on Friday 20th July.

A post mortem examination revealed he died of a head injury and police say his death is unexplained.

Detectives can't at this stage work out how he sustained his injuries and are appealing for anyone who may have seen Mr Wyard the evening before he was discovered to contact them. He had been at the Royal George Pub on Colchester Road.

"We have undertaken numerous enquiries in order to understand the circumstances that led to Mr Wyard's death. We remain open minded as to what may have taken place and continue to urge anyone who believes they saw Mr Wyard walking along Colchester Road or Valley Road on 20 July to contact us.

Detective Chief Insp Marie James

He was then last seen outside the Co-op at the junction with Sidegate Lane West around midnight and police say he was injured between that time and 7.15am when he was discovered.

Mr Wyard is described as:

  • 5ft 9 inches tall

  • Medium build

  • Grey hair with grey goatie beard

  • Wearing jeans and a light grey zip hooded top
