Bedford burglar caught by motion capture camera jailed

A burglar who was caught ransacking a house in Colmworth, Bedfordshire has been jailed for three years after he was caught on a motion capture camera.

Nelson Smith, 41, stole electrical items, cash, and over 60 pieces of jewellery.

They included some items, including a gold watch, which belonged to the victim's late parents.

He threw a plant pot through the kitchen window, but after breaking into the house was captured on a motion sensitive camera and identified by police.

“Nearly every room had been searched. Drawers had been emptied out, cupboards searched and mattresses searched under. Pillow cases had been taken from the beds.

“This incident has been truly upsetting.”
