Keep on running: how Pete's dedication has won him a Pride of Britain nomination

The fourth of our ITV Anglia East Pride of Britain nominees is Pete Redwood-Smith from Rayleigh in Essex.

Pete only took up running a year ago but it's has changed both his life for the better and the lives of others.

Running - often in costume - is the 24 year old's thing - and the more extreme the better

"I only started running last year to help with anxiety, help with depression, raise money for charity and feel like I had a purpose, do some good. And I just haven't stopped. A bit like Forrest Gump, I haven't stopped running"

Pete set himself the challenge of running 52 races in 52 weeks - he's just a handful short of his target.

Pete runs to raise money and awareness for 14 different charities - in just a year he's totted up £7000. And as well us ultra marathons he's hoping to do a 200 km race in the jungles of Panama in two years time

  • Pete Redwood-Smith is one of four contenders from the east of the ITV News Anglia region shortlisted for the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards. One will be selected to represent the region.
