'Inspirational little boy' leads out Northampton Town

A six-year-old boy with a genetic muscle condition led Northampton Town out on Saturday.

Archie, who has Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type II, led the Hatters out before their 2-1 victory over Forest Green Rovers.

The Cobblers fan has lost strength in his muscles since birth making walking and eating difficult.

SMA is a life-shortening condition and a chest infection could be fatal.

There is a drug to treat it, Spinraza, which is available in many other European countries but is not currently available in England and Wales.

His friends and family are now campaigning for it to be provided by the NHS.

"He is a very inspirational little boy. He never complains, and despite the huge battles he faces he is always fighting with a smile on his face."
