From Chatteris to Tokyo: The 13,000 mile trip in a Yaris

Two friends from Cambridgeshire who've driven across 20 countries from Chatteris to Tokyo for charity, are back home in the Fens.

Daniel Handley and David Brooks travelled more than 13,000 miles in nine weeks on some of the world's most toughest terrain and they did it all in a Toyota Yaris.

"Half of the time we couldn't really call them roads, they were just dirt tracks, the likes of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Mongolia, a lot of the time they were just gravel tracks, sand tracks with potholes big enough to lose the car completely."

"Driving to Japan has been a crazy dream of ours for many years and although we both see this adventure as a once in a lifetime opportunity, our main goal is to raise as much money as possible for our chosen charity. BBC Children In Need has raised over £600 million since 1980 for disabled children and young people in the UK. Through our own fund-raising page, sponsorship and media exposure, our intention is to raise a significant amount towards the 2018 Children In Need grand total."

Daniel and David have a passion for and work with cars and so they also visited as many different motorsport venues as possible along the way.

Their final week of the trip was spent exploring Japan's car culture and visiting race circuits.
