Legendary Newmarket trainer Luca Cumani has announced that he will retire at the end of this year.
Cumani, 69, has been based at Bedford House Stables in Newmarket since 1976 and has established himself as one of the finest racehorse trainers in Europe.
During that time, he's trained seven classic winners - including two in The Derby at Epsom (1988 and 1998).
He will officially bring the curtain down on his illustrious career in December.
"I wouldn't say it's something I've been thinking about for a long time, but I've come to realise the time is right," he said.
"I've been very lucky and privileged to have won big races all around the world and I no longer have the material to do so."
