House of Fraser has announced it will close its Norwich department store. The shop, located in intu Chapelfield shopping centre, has been rumoured to shut since Sports Direct boss Mike Ashley bought the chain weeks ago.

House of Fraser are yet to confirm a closure date, but intu Chapelfield have said the store will shut sometime next year.

House of Fraser claim they're closing as they weren't able to agree "reasonable terms" with landlord intu Chapelfield, despite having 14 weeks of meetings.

'We had various meetings with the landlord and adopted a flexible approach...sadly, we are now in consultation with staff about the fact these stores face closure. We hope other institutional landlords will continue to work with us in order to save stores and jobs.'
