A black cat has been found abandoned and dumped in an underpass in Hertfordshire.

The unwanted pet was found in a locked plastic carrier, with a urine soaked blue and grey hoodie and some dog biscuits in Welwyn Garden City on Saturday 17 November.

He was also found with a note which read: “Please, please give me a home! Thank you very much!”

“The cat was in an okay condition apart from being soaked in urine and clearly distressed and scared. There is never an excuse to abandon an animal in this way. We understand that people’s circumstances can change but dumping him like this is cruel and callous.

We are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything in Harwood Hill on Saturday, November 17, at about 7.30pm to get in contact with us, or anyone who may recognise the cat, or the hoodie. If you have any information which may help us, please call the inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018.”
