A charity which provides somewhere for parents to stay close to their seriously ill children who are in hospital over Christmas is launching its festive appeal.

The Sick Children's Trust has two houses close to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge (Acorn House and Chestnut House).

It wants to raise £13,230 which will cover the costs of running their ten houses across the UK over Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

No child should wake up on Christmas morning alone and without their family around them.

But this will be the reality for many poorly children in hospital as their families face long journeys to be by their hospital bedside on the most magical day of the year.

A donation of £30 will give a family a place to stay in one of our 'Homes from Home' this Christmas, just moments from their sick child's bedside.

The charity's appeal focuses on the stories of families who have been supported by the Sick Children's Trust, both past and present.
