A Suffolk man has been given a restraining order after a court heard he waged a terrifying campaign against his neighbours - which included using scarecrows.

Magistrates were told that Kevin Maynard, 60, from Hitcham near Stowmarket, had been hurling abuse and threats at his neighbours for six years.

Things became so bad the couple next door built a ten-foot high fence. But Maynard retaliated by lining up the figures to look over the top.

They said he had been a nightmare since they moved in – other anti-social actions included shouting and swearing at them over the fence, attacking their cars and throwing buckets of water at Mr Riches.

If Maynard breaches the two-year order he could face five years in prison.
