Ten arrests at unlicensed New Year's Eve music event in empty warehouse

Ten people have been arrested after an unauthorised music event held in a disused warehouse in Kettering and attended by up to 1,000 people.

Northamptonshire Police were called in during the early hours of New Year's Day after complaints from neighbours and found 700 to 1,000 people in an empty warehouse on the Telford Way Industrial Estate.

Ten people arrested at unlicensed music event held on New Year's Eve on the Telford Way Industrial Estate in Kettering.

Police decided to let the event continue because of the large number of people attending.

When it came to an end at around lunchtime on New Year's Day, police made ten arrests for conspiracy to commit a public nuisance.

Police also seized five vehicles, sound equipment and other evidence.

“I appreciate this has had an impact on people living near to the warehouse, and understand their frustration that we have not been able to close the event down.

"However, we have to consider other incidents taking place across the county and the resources available to us before taking action, and sadly New Year’s Eve is by far the busiest night in policing."
