A Northamptonshire choir is set to perform at one of the world's most prestigious musical venues in America.
'A Different Direction' choir based in Raunds were headhunted to take part in a concert at the Carnegie Hall in new York.
Chris Gammon, Musical Director, A Different Direction, said: "We started taking videos of ourselves and putting it online so people can see what we're doing.
“As a result of that the concert directors in New York saw us and emailed out of the blue saying we love what we've seen. We saw the two songs and would like you to come and take part in our concert.
“You see some very odd emails now and then and with this one I did a double take. I did a bit of research into it and as soon as I found it was genuine it was 'wow', I can not believe this."
'A Different Direction' was set up in 2014 to raise money for the local Cransley Hospice. None of their members ever dreamed they would get the chance to sing at Carnegie Hall.
Ten members are going to the event. ‘Total Vocal' is billed as a celebration of singers with choirs from all over the world taking part.
It is costing each person £1,600 to go and they are fundraising with a number of small events - but it is a small price for a dream come true.
