The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds in the East Anglia on Sunday 27 January 2019.

The warning is in force between 8am and 9pm on Sunday and covers Norfolk, Suffolk and parts of Essex

The Met Office is warning that a spell of very strong northerly winds is expected during Sunday bringing some transport disruption.

Strong north to northwesterly winds are expected to develop during Sunday morning across Northeast England, moving south into Eastern England during the afternoon.

Wind gusts of 50-60 mph are likely inland and 60-70 mph along the coast. Large waves are expected along some shorelines.

What to expect

  • Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely, including high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges

  • Some short term loss of power is possible

  • Some coastal routes and sea fronts affected by spray and/or large waves
