A man from Colchester who suffers from a rare stomach condition has been told the operation he needs cannot be funded on the NHS.

Matt Pascoe suffers from gastroparesis - a debilitating condition where the stomach can't empty itself properly- meaning food moves through the gut more slowly, causing sickness and constant pain.

As the operation is not funded on the NHS, he now needs to raise £17,000 for the surgery that will fit a pace maker in his stomach.

I can't be the only person with this condition feeling this way because it is a daily battle with our own bodies, being constantly in pain, constantly trying to feel normal to a degree, put a smile on my face because you feel so lethargic and run down, you want to make sure the people around you don't be affected by it.

It's not nice to watch him be sick everyday, to not be able to do things we were doing, we were going on days out, bike rides, trips to the zoo, beach, we can't do that now, he spends all his time being sick, or sleeping or in pain, it's so horrible to watch because I've watched him go from someone who was so healthy to someone who's just skin and bone."
