Cambridge University in the process of digitising 479,000 old aerial photographs

Cambridge University has made 1500 digitised aerial photographs available online.

The original pictures were taken in RAF planes before the university purchased their own Cessna Skymaster which they used until 2009.

It travelled the length and breath of the country taking photographs.

The pictures taken show how the UK's built environment has changed in post-war Britain with new roads and expanding cities.

The University are now looking at potential plans to digitise the remaining hundreds of thousands of images.
