There has been a new addition to the Bedfordshire police force for one just day.

Lulu De Vries, who's five, has a rare form of cancer. Her family are desperately trying to raise more than £150,000 pounds for life saving treatment in the US.

The family say losing Lulu isn't an option. She's always dreamed of being a police officer and now that wish came true.

Officers from Bedfordshire police visited Lulu and her best friend Lila in Bedford.

They had the chance to have a go with a big toy - a real-life police car and even hand-cuff mum.

"She loved the sirens, absolutely loved the sirens. It was great.

"She has been through so much and got a long journey ahead of her. They need to raise the funds and any little thing we can do to help is great and support the community."

Lulu was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in 2018. It's is a rare type of cancer that develops in nerve cells and mostly affects babies and young children.

Lulu's family are fundraising to send her to New York for life saving treatment. Without it - her chance of surviving is slim.

"It has been really tough but she is just our inspiration really. She just keeps us going because she has just got a love of life and her strength keeps us going."

"She is worth fighting for. You have children and you have to fight for them. You don't want to have to be in the position where you could lose them."

She may just be five years old but Officer Lulu is definitely a force to be reckoned with.
