It's 25 years since Wendy Speakes was raped and stabbed to death in her own home.
Her killer Christopher Farrow has now completed his 18 year minimum jail sentence and last November was moved to an open prison near Boston after a parole board recommendation.
Her daughter, Tracey Millington Jones from Southend, is fundraising to seek a judicial review of the decision to let Farrow take what they see as his first steps to freedom by moving to the open prison.
"We have all been very shocked that the Parole Board made this decision because we were always led to believe this was a very evil man. From all the people that dealt with him - from his solicitor to the police themselves they all said he might have been given an eighteen minimum because that was all the judge was allowed to give him but he will never get out.And this has been a real shock to us that this has happened. He has obviously pulled the wool over someone's eyes but not mine"
We will only make a recommendation for open conditions if a Parole Board panel is satisfied that the risk to the public has reduced sufficiently to be manageable in an open prison.
