The troubled Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust has this evening appointed a new chief executive.

Professor Jonathan Warren has been given the job for two years. He recently joined to work on improvements after the mental health trust was put into special measures. Previous boss Antek Lejk is leaving after less than a year in the job.

“It’s a real honour to be appointed to this role. My focus will be on improving the quality of services and building upon what is already outstanding or good so there is a consistently high standard across the Trust.

“I can only do this with the support of staff and the involvement of service users and carers in constructively improving care.”

He added: ‘I’d like to thank my predecessor Antek Lejk for beginning to lay the groundwork over the past year. I intend to build upon that and quicken the pace so that everyone in Norfolk and Suffolk receives the services they should expect and deserve.”

North Norfolk MP Norman Lamb had appealed to the health secretary Matt Hancock, to meet with residents who felt let down by the service.

Prof Warren has more than 35 years' experience in clinical and operational leadership.
