Play-offs back on track for Colchester United

Colchester United Head Coach John McGreal hopes his players can stay mentally strong as they chase a top-seven finish in League Two.

Frank Nouble's goal against Grimsby secured only the U's third win in their last eight games.

Grimsby also had Danny Collins sent off in second half stoppage time after two yellow cards in quick succession.

It leaves Colchester two points off the play-off places in ninth, with three games left, but they're one of a cluster of clubs also chasing seventh spot.

"It was a 1-0 but I thought we were well worthy of it. I thought we were excellent, and mentally.

"Really proud of the team because we really put ourselves under pressure, not only from outside but inside as well.

"We'll keep going. It's part of mine and Steve's job to keep the boys up, keep the spirits up.

"I think the first half performance was there. I know there was only one goal shown but I thought the boys were very very good.

"The problem we've got now with the boys is they've got to replicate it now come Monday at Yeovil.

"So it's all about recovery, travelling a long way but we'll deal with that. We'll do the analysis and then hopefully we can put in as strong a performance as we've done this time."
