Rise in numbers using food banks in Cambridgeshire

The number of emergency supplies handed out by food banks in Cambridgeshire has risen over the last year.

The Trussell Trust says it has given out more than 30 thousand three day parcels between last April and this March - 37 percent of them to children.

Across the East of England, more than 156,000 emergency food supplies were handed out last year - a 21 per cent increase on the previous 12 months.
