Northampton Borough Council is bidding for £25 million pounds of Government funding from the 'Future High Streets Fund'. The national fund has a pot of £675 million.
Northampton has the 6th most unhealthiest high street in the Country according to recent research, mainly because of the number of fast food outlets.
The Borough Council will be putting up posters around the town centre to outline their plans for change.
It's part of 'Northampton Forward' which is a partnership between the council and business set up earlier this year to help drive progress.
Later this month there will be consultation events across the town for people to have their say on the idea.
