Teen driver left with life-threatening injuries after Essex convertible crash

A teenager driver's been left with life threatening injuries after crashing a convertible car in Essex.

The red Peugeot 207 left the road at Great Bromley near Colchester just before 1.35am on Sunday May 19.

The driver of the car, an 18 year-old man, has sustained life-threatening injuries and has been taken to hospital.

The passenger in the car, an 18 year-old man from Colchester, has been arrested on suspicion of taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent and is currently in custody.

Police want to speak to anyone who saw the Peugeot before the crash, or saw the crash itself, which happened on Harwich Road. They think the car's roof was down at the time of the collision.
