Over half of Cambridge's population works in the tech sector

Half the population of Cambridge works in the technology sector, according to research.

A study commissioned by the government's Digital Economy Council found that the technology sector is becoming one of the biggest employers in the UK.

Around 1.7 million jobs in the technology sector were advertised across the UK's 12 biggest technology regions.

Cambridge is one of five cities where more than ten per cent of the population work in digital technology.

Digital Secretary Jeremy Wright said the government will continue to invest in the technology sector.
