Essex Police were called to Costa Coffee in Chelmsford today after a customer reported she'd found a hidden camera under the sink, with the lens pointed toward the toilet.

Police are now investigating and say they will analyse the device and find out if a crime has been committed.

Stacey Shah, a customer of the Riverside branch of Costa told ITV Anglia she noticed a light from under the sink when she went into the branch earlier today.

She covered the lens with toilet paper to protect other customers and told staff what she had found. They then removed the device from the under the sink and contacted the police.

"I felt really uncomfortable and never expected to find this - I put tissue paper around it because I was worried someone may use the toilet and not see it while I went to report it." Stacey said.

"I'd been in there with my children.

"I told the staff and they seemed shocked. One of them said they would remove it and call the police.

"I got goosebumps when I saw it."

We are aware of the issue at Riverside Retail Park and are supporting the police with their investigations.”
