The WWT Welney Wetland centre in West Norfolk has been nominated for an award by Visit England in the Quality Assurance scheme.

It's for the work that has been done to improve the reserve and visitor centre over the last few years.

The centre's knowledgeable staff and volunteers were also praised along with the special activities they put on there such as the Godwit Festival and the new Fenland exhibit.

"It is great to see the hard work from our team of staff and volunteers being recognised in this way. We are open 364 days of the year, so it is the commitment and enthusiasm of our team that means we continue to provide amazing ways for visitors to connect with wetland wildlife.

The seasonal changes of our wildlife and landscape result in very different experiences for our summer visitors compared with our winter visitors, and making sure that we get the best out of each season is a top priority for us. This year’s Visit England evaluation took place during our Godwit Festival weekend, and the assessor adored her visit – which was reflected in the score".
