Faye Chatterton, who's 16 and from Colchester, is to represent Britain in the Youth Sailing World Championships in Poland.
She is among sixteen teenagers selected for the Great Britain team heading for the sailing event in Gydnia from 15-19 July.
Chatterton will represent the British Youth Sailing Team in the girls’ 420 alongside crew Eleanor Keers at the prestigious regatta.
The pair were picked for the team following their winning performance at the recent RYA Youth National Championships.
“I am so proud to be representing Great Britain. “After a lot of time and training we have proved that we are capable of achieving our goals. "I am looking forward to the team spirit and experiencing the atmosphere of the Youth Worlds. Our ultimate goal is to not regret any decisions.”
The Youth Sailing World Championships is the world’s most important regatta in youth sailing.
Previous Championship participants include some of today's best-known sailors including the world's most decorated Olympic sailor Sir Ben Ainslie and 2008 Beijing gold medallist Pippa Wilson.
