Essex teacher to retire after 40 years at same school

A teacher who has spent her entire teaching career at an infant school at Colchester Garrison is set to retire after 40 years in the classroom.

Sally Leung is a mainstay of Montgomery Infant School, where more than half of the children are from military families.

"I will miss the children, I will miss the hugs and I will miss my colleagues - they're friends as well.

"I've got 30% military ladies working in the school. Keeping that going is very important so we have that understanding of what it's like to be in the military."

The school celebrated Mrs Leung's time at the school with a festival of culture.

Mrs Leung has also been the musical director of the Colchester Military Wives choir for the last seven years.
