South African batsman Cameron Delport hit the fastest T20 century by an Essex player, and the fifth quickest in the history of the competition, as the Eagles recorded an incredible win over Surrey at Chelmsford.
Despite the game being reduced to 15 overs a side due to rain, Deport produced a remarkable innings in which he reached his century in just 38 balls.
He went on to score 129 off 49 balls, hitting 14 sixes in the process, to help Essex post a formidable total of 226-4.
In reply, Surrey could only reach 174-7, despite scoring 31 runs off the first eight balls of their innings.
The result means Essex move up to third in the South Group, having won one and lost one of their opening two fixtures.
