Teenage boy arrested in connection with football club arson

Police investigating a suspected arson attack on a football club in Gorleston have arrested a teenage boy.

At 11:10pm on Tuesday 27 August 2019, police were called to reports of a fire at Claydon Community Centre on Suffolk Road, Gorleston.

The Community Centre, home to Shrublands FC, was extensively damaged by the blaze.

A teenage boy has been arrested in Gorleston on suspicion of criminal damage, and has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Whilst we have made an early arrest, this investigation remains ongoing, with additional lines of enquiry. It may be that this incident is a result of reckless behaviour, and I would urge anyone that was there at the time or has knowledge to come forward.
