Cambridge United have confirmed a Forest Green Rovers fan who suffered a cardiac arrest at the recent match between the two sides has died in hospital.
The supporter fell ill in the stands at the Abbey Stadium on Saturday.
Fellow supporters, stewards and the medical team on duty at the stadium all rushed to help him and he was given CPR.
He was then taken to the nearby Royal Papworth Hospital but passed away on Tuesday morning.
"We are deeply saddened this has not led to a happier outcome on this occasion, but are grateful to have such a skilled and professional match day team who have highlighted their ability to keep the Abbey Stadium and those within it safe in the event of an emergency situation," a Cambridge United spokesperson said.
"We would like to offer our sincerest of condolences to the individual's family and friends and our thoughts are also with Forest Green Rovers Football Club at this sad time."
