Police release footage of motorbike crash to warn others about dangers of drink-driving

  • Warning: This video shows the moment of the head-on collision

Police have released dashcam footage of a crash involving a drunk motorcyclist, to encourage other bikers to be safer on the roads.

The head-on crash happened in Stevenage in March.

The rider, who was critically injured, was found to be nearly twice the drink drive limit.

No-one in the car he hit was hurt but police say are releasing the footage in the hope it brings home the serious consequences of being over the limit.

At court in July, the motorcyclist was disqualified from driving for 18 months.

We are releasing this footage in the hope it brings some reality, particularly to motorcyclists, of the serious consequences of being over the limit.

The rider put himself, the occupants of the car and other road users at risk and this is not acceptable.

I appreciate he is now paying for his actions not only through the courts but through the injuries he has suffered. The message from us is clear – do not drink and drive.
