"Well developed" fire at disused Cambridge building

Emergency services were called to the fire overnight Credit: Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service

Over 30 firefighters from Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to a fire in Cambridge on 17 September.

At 20:49, crews were made aware of a fire at a disused building on Histon Road. The flames were "well developed", according to the Fire Service. Firefighters extinguished the fire using jets and returned to their stations by 01:00.

Cambridgeshire Police were also in attendance.

Regular inspections have been taking place to ensure the area is safe. An investigation is being carried out to determine the cause of the fire.
