Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service attended a thatched cottage fire in Blaxhall last night.
Twelve pumps were called to the scene and emergency services had to strip the roof to control the spread on the flames.
Motorists were urged to avoid the area and residents told to keep their windows shut.
Firefighters worked through the night and managed to put the fire out this morning. No one was injured and the cause of the fire is not yet known.
