Police launch investigation after baby boy found dead in Ipswich

A baby had been found dead at an address in Bulstrode Road in Ipswich.

Police in Suffolk have arrested a woman in her twenties after the sudden death of a baby at an address in Ipswich which has been described by officers as "unexplained".

Police were called by the East of England Ambulance Service shortly after 10.15 am on Tuesday 22 October to reports of a medical emergency at an address in Bulstrode Road.

The baby was taken by ambulance to Ipswich Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A police scene is in place while an investigation into the circumstances of the death continues.

Police are appealing for information from the public.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained and next of kin have been informed.

A police spokesperson said: "As a result of subsequent enquiries connected to the investigation, a woman in her 20s has been arrested by police.

"She has been taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre where she will be questioned."
