Peterborough bodybuilder aims to be the next Arnie

A Peterborough bodybuilder is aiming to emulate his hero Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Alex Bolshunov only began lifting weights to build up his muscles after being badly injured in a car accident in 2015.

Now he's off to compete in the Mr Universe competition in Italy. A contest Arnie first won in the late 1960s.

I want to be cool, I want to be the best, I want to compete in the future as a professional bodybuilder.

It's not just the bodybuilding that Alex wants to emulate. He also wants to follow in his footsteps with a career in film.

Alex is originally from Lativa but moved to Peterborough 15 years ago. He only took up bodybuilding after badly injuring his right arm in a car accident.

If I was a different kind of person I would probably be sitting drinking a beer and eating crisps and watching TV, that's probably more interesting, but this is an addiction, and I'm getting my drive from sport

Alex is doing three training sessions a day to get in shape for the competition and he's heating six meals a day adding up to 3,000 calories.

His meals include 16 egg whites.
