Masked men stole four French bulldog puppies from a home in Clacton after reportedly threatening the owner with a hammer.

Two men broke into a house in Freeland Road just before midnight on Monday and took the 10-week-old puppies.

It's believed they used a hammer to scare the owner, before making their escape via neighbouring gardens.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who was driving in the area at the time, or anyone who has seen any French bulldog puppies for sale.

There's been a big rise in the number of dog thefts in the East of England in recent years, with nearly 350 incidents reported in 2018 alone.
